Halloweeny Warrior Dash 2011 @ Sam Michael Park
On Saturday, November 12th at 10:30 a.m. there will be a FREE non-competitive fun run for children! The course will be cross country with some fun natural obstacles to climb, jump over, go under or through, or avoid. Costume optional. Medals for all finishers. Distance one mile or shorter for the very young. Stay for the Chili Cookoff , Moon Bounce, River Riders Rock Wall ($2 per person to climb) and other games.

As if the excitement of zipping through the woodlands of the Harpers Ferry area wasn’t enough we have upped the thrill factor for the Halloween season.
Join River Riders this October as we transform the Canopy tour into a whole new wicked and wild underworld. Your journey into the night begins with a one way rattling hay ride into the darkness. Each tower along the quivering course will bring spine-chilling excitement! The platforms are decorated with crazed creatures, costumed characters and unique, All Hallows Eve themed decorations, bringing to life the thrills and chills of this haunted holiday.
Your tour will have you Zipping along this frightfully fun 2 ½ hour course while encountering the strange and unusual. Feel the chill of the eerie evening air, the rush of the thrilling zip lines, and challenge of passing the army of darkness while viewing the spooky fall foliage.
This family-friendly fright is a great way to spend your night.

Zombie Day October 8th: Join River Riders on Zombie Day and help stomp out hunger by bringing a non-parichable canned food item to donate.

2011 Harpers Ferry Zombie Walk Saturday October 8th
Join River Riders, The Haunted Cottage, KOA, and Quality Hotel to help stomp out Hunger. Dress as your best undead character and walk the walk of the zombie!

Freedom's Run Saturday October 1, 2011
26 miles through 4 National Parks, The Freedom’s Run Marathon Comes to Life to Celebrate History, Community Health, And the Soul of Running through Our Four National Parks – Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park, Antietam National Battlefield, and the Potomac Heritage Trail. Harpers Ferry will be hosting Race Day on Saturday October 1, 2011.

Fall Earth Day Raft Special Saturday September 24, 2011
Gather your friends, family, or scouting group and head out on the local waterways for our Fall Earth Day Raft Trip and Clean Up. Our rivers get alot of use during the summer months so doing a little clean up before the long winter months just seems right. Our Fall Earth Day trip gets you out on a 3 hour White Water Raft trip for half price by gathering litter as you go down while you enjoy class I-III rapids on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers. This is a great opportunity for Scout and other community civic organizations to incorporate their mission into a fun outing. Let's keep the earth clean year round! This special trip departs at Noon.

The George Washington 226th Anniversary White Water Rafting Trip with Lunch

Enjoy your Saturday mornings in August floating through the waterways of history as you raft the Potomac River outside of Harpers Ferry, WV. This 3 hour trip takes you back in time and along the same route that on August 7-8, 1785 when he was just 22 years old, George Washington took. Washington visited Keep Tryst, our rafting put-in near Harpers Ferry while examining rapids of the Potomac River with regard to a skirting canal that became the C & O canal. On your journey you will ride alongside the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, pass by the historic district of Harpers Ferry then through the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. Beyond the confluence enter WhiteHorse (the Spout) in which Washington wrote “1/2 mile below the mouth of the Shenandoah is what they call the Spout…The canoe I was in which was small had near sunk having received much water on both sides.” All this while learning from an experienced and knowledgeable river guide about the unique history that makes up our area. This trip runs Class I – II+ (beginner to intermediate) rapids and with summer water levels makes this a great trip for water lovers who weigh at least 30lbs.
Come out and experience history like never before on a trip you will not soon forget.

Kayak Trip to Support The Iraqi Student Project
Join us on a 2 hour, 3 mile journey on the Potomac to fundraise for the Iraqi Student Project Baltimore. This is a perfect trip for beginner kayakers and others with a bit more experience. This trip is guided. [Click here] to find out more on this important fundraising event and to register.
This trip is so popular that we decided to offer it two days!
At 3 PM on Saturday July 2nd and Monday, July 4th River Riders will have our annual special 3pm departure twilight rafting or kayaking trip in honor of our nations birthday. The trip will include the Shenandoah white water rafting trip and a steak cookout afterwards.
The Saturday July 2nd trip will conclude in time for you to make your own way to Sam Michael Park in in time to watch the Jefferson County fireworks.
*A special shuttle option is available on SATURDAY JULY 2nd ONLY to Sam Michael Park for an additional $7 per person. This shuttle will drop you off at Sam Michael park to view the Jefferson County fireworks. After the show the shuttle will bring you back to River Riders where your visit with us will conclude.
The Monday July 4th trip will conclude in time for participants to make their own way to Baker Park in Frederick, to enjoy the fireworks.

Harpers Ferry Amateur Raft Race June 18
Done the Doah? Think you're a pro? Prove your raft paddling skills by entering the Amateur Raft Race! The race begins at 10AM (check in is at 9AM) on Saturday, June 18th. Potomac River White Water tubing is a favorite of the young adult set and brings you 1 1/2 - 2 hours of white water fun, some slower moving calm, and obstacles to traverse! Take your time and enjoy the sun as you float past the historic district of Harpers Ferry! (*minimum weight and height requirements)
Flat Water Tubing is a relaxing float along the Shenandoah River. This trip is fun for all ages. (*minimum weight 30lb) Come out to Harpers Ferry and enjoy the tree lined view of our mountain home!

National Safe Boating Week May 21-27, 2011
Boating advocates and partners are gearing up for the 2011 National Safe Boating Week (NSBW), the official launch of the North American Safe Boating Campaign. NSBW provides a unique opportunity to promote boating safety to approximately 78 million recreational boaters nationwide.

A North Branch Trip package with a C&O Canal biking tour in scenic Cumberland, MD and tent camping is available at $129 per person or upgrade to a rustic cabin for $135 per person based on double occupancy. (Prices subject to change.)

Two Rivers Heritage Half Marathon at Harpers Ferry May 14
Join us Saturday May the 14th for the inaugural Two Rivers Heritage Half Marathon, 4 Mile trail run, and Kids Run in scenic and historic Harpers Ferry, WV presented by:

The Half Marathon is a challenging and hilly course covering the expanse on Harpers Ferry National Historical Park and the Civil War era towns connecting them. Expansive views of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers, a loop through Harpers Ferry National Historical Park School House Ridge South, Murphy Farm, Lower Town Harpers Ferry, John Brown’s Fort, Bolivar, Storer College,and the homes taking you back to the 1860’s .
Our 4 Mile event is a mix of trail and includes a loop of the School House Ridge South portion of the Harpers Ferry National Park.
And our Kids Event will be on site at River Riders and School House Ridge South.

Arbor Day Half Day Bike Ride - April 30th
Join us for our self guided Half Day Bike Trip to the historic district for the Arbor Day Tree Planting. Do the self guided half day bike trip (Trip departs at 9:30am) with River Riders and we'll drop you off at out waterfront location. From there head out to the historic district to explore and watch the tree planting on Washington Street across from Church Street. Free Landmark Tree maps! Take a bike ride or walk and admire some of Harpers Ferry's biggest trees! There will be plenty of time to explore all that the historic district has to offer. When you're all done, pedal back to our waterfront location where we'll pick you up.
