  Because of the popularity, we've made it a 2 day event! Officially it's the 22nd, but we're taking it to the weekend. Raft the Shenandoah for 1/2 price if you float the river with us and help us scout for and pick up litter along the way. This is a great opportunity for Scout and other community civic organizations to incorporate their mission into a fun outing. This special trip departs at Noon.

• July 4th, Annual Twilight Rafting Trip
  At 3 PM on Sunday, July 4 River Riders will have our annual special 3pm departure twilight rafting or kayaking trip in honor of our nations birthday. The trip will include the Shenandoah white water rafting trip and a steak cookout afterwards. Trip will conclude in time for participants to make their own way to Baker Park in Frederick, to enjoy the fireworks - $85 per person. • Saturday Rafting Specials
  We have several special rafting trips available on Saturdays from Memorial Day to Labor Day or by request for groups of 10 or more. They include a 9 am departure wildlife viewing trip which has a $5 per person discount. Another option is the 3 pm cook out rafting trip which has a hamburger and hotdog picnic afterwards under our pavilion. A third option is the Sunset rafting trip with a 5 pm departure time. The sun is setting close to the end of the trip, and this is a much more personal trip as many of the other river users have gone home for the day at this point. • Bailout Weekends every weekend in March
  Weekday pricing and FREE wetsuit combo packages for each Shenandoah River Rafting participant. It's early season, but the trip is suitable for adventurous guests with appropriate dress. Watch a video of rafting in January on YouTube. There isn't normally snow in March!

• Outdoor Adventure Camp Open House, April 11 from 1-4
  River Riders' Outdoor Adventure Camp is a weekly day camp with sessions from June through August. Activities include rafting, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, biking and hiking. The camp is open to youths aged 9 to 16 years. Our open house day is a great way to meet our friendly camp staff, view our facility, and get a feel for the fun and exciting activities your campers will enjoy with us during the summer time.

• John Brown's Anniversary Event - Concert - "Sword of the Spirit" May 9
  In observance of John Brown’s 209th birthday, the concert will feature songs based on the story of John Brown, his friends and his supporters. All material written and performed by Greg Artzner and Terry Leonino. HFNP Admission: $6 per vehicle for 3 days or $4 per person on foot. Make it a full day event and take in the history and scenery of the Shenandoah River on a white water rafting trip in the morning as you float past the Harpers Ferry National Historic Park and then in the afternoon enjoy a special musical occasion in the heart of Harpers Ferry.

Scheduled for May 17-23, NSBW provides a unique opportunity to promote boating safety to approximately 78 million recreational boaters nationwide.

  National Fishing and Boating Week 2009 will be highlighted by the 20th annual Free Fishing Weekend on June 13 and 14. During these two days, residents and nonresidents can fish in West Virginia without a license. We have several great trips to offer in conjunction with this unique weekend.   Done the Doah? Think you're a pro? Prove your raft paddling skills by entering the Amateur Raft Race! The race begins at 10AM (check in is at 9AM) on Saturday, June 20th.   River Riders will be celebrating Harpers Ferry history and ghost legend and lore along with our friends at the KOA. We'll be launching a historic white water rafting trip at 3PM Saturday July 18th and Sunday July 19th. The raft tour will conclude at River Riders where you'll then depart for a ghost tour of Harpers Ferry, beginning at 8PM. Also, the KOA is hosting a paranormal convention with speakers from around the world. Stay tuned for more details.

  Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar recently announced that the National Park Service will offer 3 fee-free weekends this summer to encourage Americans seeking affordable vacations to visit these national treasures. Harpers Ferry National Park is 1 of 391 national parks located across the country. Entry fees will be waived on the following weekends: June 20 & 21 (Father's Day Weekend), July 18 & 19, and August 15&16, 2009

  26 miles through, 4 National Parks The Freedom’s Run Marathon Comes to Life to Celebrate History, Community Health, And the Soul of Running through Our Four National Parks – Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park, Antietam National Battlefield, and the Potomac Heritage Trail. Harpers Ferry will be hosting a Race Day on Saturday October 3, 2009. Freedom's Run Races include: marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, and a kids fun run.

• October means fall foliage.
  October is a great month for outdoor activities is Harpers Ferry. Trips are smaller. Fall colors begin to show early in the month and are in full array by the end. Biking and Canoeing trips are especially popular this month because of more comfortable (avg 67 degree) temperatures.
  A half day canoe / half day bike combination trip is just $60 per person. October is also a good time of year to take the challenge of riding all 185 miles of the C&O Canal. The trip breaks up well into 3 days with stopping points for lodging near Berkeley Springs, WV, Hancock, MD and Harpers Ferry, WV. If you're into camping, the trip can work in more or less days as well, as there are camp spots all along the Canal.

Stop at our shop for lunch, and take off to "Tube the Mac" on our 2:30 (2:15 on Saturdays) Potomac River Whitewater tubing trip for just $13 more.

We can arrange a two to four day bike trip for your group on the beautiful and historic Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park [PDF map]. The beauty will amaze you as you trek from Cumberland to Georgetown on the constant but slight downhill grade. We will tailor the trip to your group’s abilities. • Day 1: 60 miles from Cumberland to Hancock including Spring’s Gap, Oldtown, MD, the confluence of the North and South Branch of the Potomac, and the 3118 foot long Paw Paw Tunnel
• Day 2: 64 miles from Hancock to Harpers Ferry including Dam’s 3, 4, and 5, Fort Frederick State Park, Killiansburg Cave, beautiful and historic Shepherdstown and the Harpers Ferry Gap
• Day 3: 60 miles from Harpers Ferry to Georgetown including Weverton Cliffs, an operating toll ferry at White’s Ferry, Seneca Creek Aqueduct, Great Falls of the Potomac and Mather’s Gorge finishing at the Georgetown Visitor’s Center.
