From there follow the unique country path along Potomac Street biking past the newly renovated train station and into the heart of historic Harpers Ferry. From there you can choose to stay in Harpers Ferry and explore the history and beauty that abounds or take the Maryland heights bridge tunnel foot path over the Potomac River. From there make tracks on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Park. Heading north the scenic trip follows the Potomac River towards the historic town of Shepherdstown. Upon approaching Dargan Bend, a good ½ day return point, you'll see a cave, historical mill and iron structures along the Canal. All along the trip you'll experience the remains of the many lift locks. You can choose to follow The C&O Canal path east towards Brunswick MD a great place to rest and enjoy a snack or lunch before returning. Along the way you'll pass the remains of the small village of Weverton where upon looking across the Potomac River you will see the remains of a dam and mill.    Length: 4 hours   <hr /> All Bikes are manufactured by Specialized, Schwinn, or GT Bicycle Companies. We have both State-of-the-Art 21-speed All-Terrain models and Cruisers as well, with shocks and adjustable seats and handlebars. We also have rentals with car carriers for the person who wants to go on their own. Your adventure will start in Shepherdstown, WV with an 8 mile canoe trip to just above Harpers Ferry. We'll meet you there and exchange your canoe for bikes. You will then journey down the C & O Canal to Harpers Ferry. You can decide if you'd like to stop there to enjoy the town or continue on downstream to be picked up. Either way it's the perfect ending to a wonderful day. Bring along a lunch or stop in Harpers Ferry.   <hr /> <div class="subheadg rtejustify"> Paddle & Pedal Rafting Packages</div> Enjoy the C & O Canal, and the rapids of the Shenandoah River. One of your days will start off with a 12 to 24 mile mountain biking tour of the C & O Canal. On the other day, you will experience an exciting whitewater trip down the rapids of the Shenandoah River in a guided raft. The trips can also be combined into one day.   Tent camping at local campgrounds can be added as well. All trips include necessary transportation and equipment. Day 1 If you're camping, we'll drive you to Oldtown and start your 25 mile ride to Little Orleans. Along the way you’ll see the confluence of the North and South Branch of the Potomac, and the 3118 foot long Paw Paw Tunnel. (Don't forget your flashlight.) That evening, you'll camp at Little Orleans. For “inside” accommodations, you'll start your trip at Paw Paw and cruise through the 3118 foot long Paw Paw Tunnel. (Don't forget your flashlight.) You'll also see several historical aquaducts and the confluence of the Cacapon River and the Potomac River. Ride to Hancock for your evening lodging. From there follow a country path to Harpers Ferry. You can stay in town and enjoy all that Harpers Ferry has to offer or cross the pedestrian bridge to the C & O canal before returning to our campground for the shuttle back to River Riders. All of our bikes are manufactured by Specialized Bicycle Components and are the best available for rent in the area. Our most popular adventure and a guest favorite through the years, this whitewater rafting trip down the last reaches of the Shenandoah River includes slow water solitude and whitewater action. In slow water watch for ospreys, great blue herons, and bald eagles; enjoy the beauty of the Blue Ridge; and talk with your raftmates. But be ready for thrills and spills as you charge over “Bull Falls” and whoosh through “Bull’s Tail”, before heading through the Shenandoah’s mile-long “Staircase” rapid. Take in the history and scenery of the Shenandoah River as you float past Harpers Ferry National Historic Park between the soaring cliffs of Maryland and Loudon Heights, where you join the mighty Potomac. On the Potomac watch out for the snarl of the “Mad Dog” and hold onto your boots as you ride the wild “White Horse.” This beautiful and exciting trip is for everyone: beginners to seasoned guests!
