Harpers Ferry Location
River Riders is only
1 ½ hours drive time from downtown Baltimore, MD or Washington DC in
Harpers Ferry, WV on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers. Rafting, tubing,
kayaking, biking, canoeing, fishing and team building are all closer than you
think.

Your help is
needed. Please carpool as much as possible. We have very limited parking,
especially on weekends. Besides, it's good for the environment.
We pick up
from Harpers Ferry locations including hotels, the KOA, and the Marc train!

From the DC
Area:
I-270 north to Frederick, MD. Merge with I-70 West at Frederick
for about 1/2 a mile, Take Exit 52 - 340 West to Charles Town. Follow US 340
for 16 miles and cross the Potomac River Bridge. Continue 2 miles and cross the
Shenandoah River Bridge. Follow 340 to the top of the hill and see Cliffside
Quality Inn on the left. Get in the left lane and proceed downhill. (Look to
your left and you will see our building - it is a large blue building with a red roof and "River Riders" in black
letters on the front.) At the bottom of the hill, turn left onto Millville Road
(you will see a large flea market open on the weekends). Once on Millville
Road, go three-tenths of one mile and make a sharp left turn onto Alstadts Hill
Road. There is also a small blue "River Riders" sign. Follow this road to the
last building on the right.
From Baltimore:
Take I-70 west to Frederick. Take exit 52 onto US 340 West to Charles
Town and follow the DC directions from that point.
From Northern
VA:
Take Rt. 7 (Leesburg Pike) west past Leesburg. Exit onto Rt. 9 West
to Charles Town. Follow all the way to Charles Town. (Do not take Harpers Ferry
Road - Rt. 671 to 340.) From Rt. 9 West exit onto 340 North towards Harpers
Ferry. Go several miles and exit to stay on 340 North. Go 3 7/10 miles on US 340 north. Turn right onto Millville Road. Once on
Millville Road, go three-tenths of one mile and make a sharp left turn onto
Alstadts Hill Road. There is also a small blue "River Riders" sign. Follow this
road to the last building on the right.
If you took
Harpers Ferry Rd - Rt 671, at the
end, turn left onto 340 and follow for about 2 miles. Turn left onto Millville
Rd and follow the above directions.
From Hagerstown and points west:
Take 70 East to the Boonsboro Rt 66 exit. Head south to Boonsboro. Turn left on Alt 40 and follow through town. Turn right on Rt 67 and continue to Rt 340 towards Harpers Ferry. Follow US 340 for 1 mile and cross the Potomac River Bridge. Continue 2 miles and cross the Shenandoah River Bridge. Follow 340 to the top of the hill and see Cliffside Quality Inn on the left. Take Rt. 7 E to Berryville. Exit onto 340 north to Charles Town. Once in Charles Town, exit to stay on 340 North. Follow for 3 7/10 more miles. Turn right onto Millville Road. From the DC
Area:
I-270 north to Frederick, MD. Merge with I-70 west at Frederick.
Follow I-70 to Hancock, MD and merge with I-68 West. Continue on I-68 past
Cumberland, MD, and take exit 34 onto Route 36 South to Westernport. At
Westernport, turn right onto Route 135 West. After passing the Factory
in Luke, MD, continue ½ mile to first left onto Rt. 46 West (bridge over
river). There is no sign at the turn, but as soon as you cross the bridge, you
will see a Rt 46 sign. You will cross the river and continue on this paved road
up the mountain. Follow the Rt 46 signs. After a series of switchbacks bear
right. Follow approximately 1 mile to "Barnum white water area" sign and turn
right. At the end of this road, you will be at the launch area. Tell the gate
keeper that you are with River Riders.
From Baltimore:
Take I-70 west and follow directions from DC Area.
From Northern
VA:
Follow 7 West to Leesburg. Take 15 North to Frederick, exit onto 70
west, and follow directions from DC Area.

base at the New and Gauley Rivers: From the DC area:
I-66 West to I-81.
Take I-81 South to junction with I-64 West. Follow I-64 west toward Beckley,
West Virginia (where I-65 and I-77 merge). Take the North Beckley Exit #48 onto US Route 19 North. Once you're on US 19 in Oak Hill, take the (East) Main St. exit (Rt. 16). Turn North (right) at the STOP sign. Turn left directly across from the Little General-BP Station onto Minden Rd. (CR17). From the little General to ACE it's 2.9 miles...check your odometer. Continue through the community of Minden, staying on Minden Rd & follow the signs to ACE. NOTE: Please drive slowly through Minden. Watch for children and pets. Minden is an old mining company town, and the houses are close to the road. Also, while in Minden, the road will take a hard left, cross a bridge, and then a hard right. You are still on CR17. At mile 2.1 - Turn right at the ACE sign on the tall pole (which keeps you on Minden Rd.) do NOT go straight onto Rocklick Rd. At mile 2.9 turn left at the ACE entrance.

Friendsville, Maryland for White Water Rafting From the DC Area:
I-270
north to Frederick, MD. Merge with I-70 west at Frederick. Follow I-70 to
Hancock, MD and merge with I-68 West. Continue on I-68 past Cumberland, MD for
40 miles. Take Exit 4 at Friendsville, Maryland (the last exit before entering
West Virginia). At the end of exit ramp go right. The Youghiogheny river runs thru the middle of town, and Precision is located on the left where Main St crosses the river. eee Allow approximately 3 hours for travel time.
