Teen Adventure Days with River Riders
offered by Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities

Join River Riders on select Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during your summer break for outdoor excitement near historical Harpers Ferry, WV. This special offer with the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities includes shuttle transportation to and from Chinquapin Park Recreation Center in Alexandria, an outdoor recreation adventure each day, as well as lunch! Teens need only bring themselves and appropriate clothing; River Riders will take care of the rest! These programs are specially designed to suit the interests of teens ages 9-17. (Some activities have minimum age requirements, please see activity descriptions for details.)

Teen Adventure Days Sessions (3 days - T W R):

Raft, Rope, and Ride:
Price: $159

This session include the most exciting selection of all the programs we offer, including white water rafting on the Shenandoah River, an exciting ropes course at FLOC, and white water tubing on the Potomac River. With this week teens are able to paddle class I-III rapids, take on the challenge of a ropes course, and will finish up the week with a fun, relaxing day in a tube on mild white water rapids. Available to ages 10-17

Wild Waters:
Price: $139

This Session incorporate activities such as beginner to intermediate level white water rafting on the Shenandoah River, white water tubing, and guided white water kayaking on the scenic Upper Potomac River. Teens will increase their confidence by learning new water skills and will create memories with their peers that will last a life time. Available to ages 9-17.

All trips incorporate beginner to intermediate level activities, include lunch, and are lead by certified guides. Activities run 3 days a week. Shuttle departs from Chinquapin Park Recreation Center in Alexandria at 9 am. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure and arrival. River Riders reserves the right to change any activity, location, or date in order to provide your child with the best experience possible.

Shuttle to and from Chinquapin Park, an adventure each day, all equipment, guides, and lunch!

Children need to bring swim suits, river shoes, towels, and a change of clothes. Teens with special needs (including diets) please notify staff before camp begins. Individuals with special needs diets may need to bring their own lunch. $20 extra charge for non-Alexandria residents.

Teen Adventure Overnight Camps:

These weeks incorporate a variety of River Riders’ most adventurous activities including: white water rafting, kayaking, tubing, rock climbing, and high and low “roping”! This opportunity provides the ultimate experience for adventure seeking, environmentally concerned teens and will focus on developing eco friendly living habits, Leave No Trace ethics, white water skills, and solid safety habits. Campers will lodge in the primitive cabins in the woods at FLOC in Harpers Ferry , WV for the week. Available for kids and teens ages 9-17. Campers please meet at River Riders Inc in Harpers Ferry for camp check-in.

Multi-Adventure Travel Week:

This week provides the opportunity for teens to experience class IV white water action at the Lower Youghiogheny in Ohiopyle, PA and New River Gorge National Park in Fayetteville, WV. After meeting at River Riders in Harpers Ferry teens will travel to Ohiopyle, PA to surf the stellar waves of the Lower Youghiogheny River. After all the action at the Yough, it?s time to head down to Fayetteville, WV where the days will be filled with rock climbing and repelling, lake ?water park? activities, and plenty of white water fun on the Upper and Lower New River. Only teens looking for extreme outdoor excitement need apply. Multi-Adventure Travel Week includes 6 days of fun, 5 nights of camping, and meals. Available for teens ages 12-17. Campers please meet at River Riders in Harpers Ferry for camp check-in.

To register your child for Teen Adventure Days, please print out the Liability Waivers and Medical form. We also need a copy (front & back) of the medical insurance card. Once you reserve online, you can either mail or fax this information to us.
