Raft
North Branch of the Potomac WhitewaterDESCRIPTION
Have you "Done the Doah"? Are you ready for more exciting white water? Join us on a raft trip down the renowned North Branch of the Potomac River. The high water volumes and steeper gradient of the this speical section creates waves up to 6 ft. high! Continuous class II to III+ action will keep your heart pounding and your raft moving. Brief sections of calm water between rapids allow relaxing, swimming, and cliff jumping.
Controlled releases from the Jennings Randolph Dam create premium conditions for whitewater rafting on specified weekends in April, May, September and October (see dates below) on the North Branch of the Potomac. We meet up to begin this trip about 1/2 hour south of Cumberland, Maryland. The route runs seven miles from Barnum, WV to Bloomington, MD.
We include PFD's (personal floatation device), paddles, a guide, shuttle transportation and snack for all departures.
Add to the challenge and adventure by paddling a stable, quick, and maneuverable inflatable kayak called a duckie at no additional charge!
Minimum suggested age is 10.
Water temperatures are cooler on dam release trips so we generally recommend wearing a wetsuit. Please call to inquire and reserve sizes.
