Half Day Biking TripBOOK THIS TRIP
DESCRIPTION
Leave River Riders and take the shuttle to our Bakerton riv
erfront location. From there follow the unique country path along Potomac Street biking past the newly renovated train station and into the heart of historic Harpers Ferry. From there you can choose to stay in Harpers Ferry and explore the history and beauty that abounds or take the Maryland heights bridge tunnel foot path over the Potomac River. From there make tracks on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Park. Heading north the scenic trip follows the Potomac River towards the historic town of Shepherdstown. Upon approaching Dargan Bend, a good ½ day return point, you'll see a cave, historical mill and iron structures along the Canal. All along the trip you'll experience the remains of the many lift locks. You can choose to follow The C&O Canal path east towards Brunswick MD a great place to rest and enjoy a snack or lunch before returning. Along the way you'll pass the remains of the small village of Weverton where upon looking across the Potomac River you will see the remains of a dam and mill.
Length: 4 hours
All Bikes are manufactured by Specialized, Schwinn, or GT Bicycle Companies. We have both State-of-the-Art 21-speed All-Terrain models and Cruisers as well, with shocks and adjustable seats and handlebars.
The trip includes all gear and shuttle transportation to and from the canal.
Childrens bikes and gear carriers available.
We also have rentals with car carriers for the person who wants to go on their own. Includes: Bike, Helmet, and Carrier.
Enjoy the beauty of Harpers Ferry on a 1/2 day canoe and 1/2 day bike trip. Your adventure will start in Shepherdstown, WV with an 8 mile canoe trip to just above Harpers Ferry. We'll meet you there and exchange your canoe for bikes. You will then journey down the C & O Canal to Harpers Ferry. You can decide if you'd like to stop there to enjoy the town or continue on downstream to be picked up. Either way it's the perfect ending to a wonderful day.
Bring along a lunch or stop in Harpers Ferry.
Enjoy the C & O Canal, and the rapids of the Shenandoah River. One of your days will start off with a 12 to 24 mile mountain biking tour of the C & O Canal. On the other day, you will experience an exciting whitewater trip down the rapids of the Shenandoah River in a guided raft.
The trips can also be combined into one day.
Tent camping at local campgrounds can be added as well.
All trips include necessary transportation and equipment.
